West Franklin USD #287 is looking for individuals who enjoy being around students and would like to be a substitute bus driver or an activity trip bus driver.
Substitute drivers will need to have a CDL with an S, P, First Aide Class, Driver Improvement, DOT Physical, and must pass a drug test. All these requirements are reimbursable and training is provided by the Director of Transportation.
Substitute bus drivers start at $16.65 per hour, and activity trip drivers make $32.00 for the first two hours and $10.00 per hour thereafter.

Qualifications:
1. High School diploma or equivalent.
2. Health and Inoculation certificate on file in the central office.
3. Valid CDL license with required endorsements.
4. Meet all State requirements for Bus Drivers, including Defensive Driving and First Aid Certification.
5. Ability to attend monthly safety meetings.
6. Successfully complete two -hour behind the wheel- trainings.
7. Complete required physical examination for Bus Drivers (after employment offer is made)
8. Desire to continue career improvement.
Essential Functions:
1. Provide clean, safe and reliable transportation to ensure that studnets enjoy the full advantage of school district programs and activities.
2. Ensure that all activities conform to State school transportation guidelines.
3. Communicate effectively with all members of the school district and community.
4. React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.
5. Appropriately operate all vehicles and equipment as necessary.
6. Support the value of an education.
7. Support the philosophy and mission of USD287.
Regular attendance is required of all employees subject to allowed leave in accordance with district policy or negotiated agreement, as appropriate. Excessive absences or tardiness, unauthorized leave or unexcused absences may result in disciplinary action including terminationi of employment.
Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:
1. Requires prolonged sitting or standing.
2. Requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull or push heavy objects or materials.
3. Requires stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, turning and reaching.
4. Requires climbing and balancing.
5. Requires driving skills, including ability to operate vehicle at night.
6. Possibility of lengthy travel.
7. Requires agility necessary to quickly and safely exit driver's seat and rear emergency door.
8. Must work indoors and outdoors year- round.
9. Must work in noisy, crowded, stressful environments.
10. Must work in and around dust, fumes and odors.
